Las Vegas, Nevada PFC Crossfit

http://www.pfctraining.com/

Erin and I go to Las Vegas a couple of times a year and now that we're really into Crossfit we decided to spend a day at one of the Boxes.  Dan runs the gym we train at in Bellevue, WA and he knew Brian and Steve with PFCtraining, so he directed us to their crossfit gym.

Let me say mixing in a WOD with vegas time is rough.  I contacted PFC before we made the trip and planned to drop in for a Saturday WOD.  Now Friday night Erin and I did our Vegas thing and didn't get back to the hotel room until 5am.  Somehow Saturday morning we got out of bed, dressed, coffee in our system and headed out to Progressive Force Crossfit.  On the way there I am really hoping we have a nice light easy day, do a couple of pushups, maybe a sit up or two and if I'm lucky this will be the one box that does bicep curls :-)

As we pull into where they are located, we see they are in between a firing range and a Marine Corps Club with the U.S. Marine Corps flag waving nice and high.  So chances are you're not going to have a soft crossfit gym in a location like this.  Then if you look at their website you'll see their other business is security, special tactics, training police officers, well you need to see their website they offer a lot of really cool high end services and instruction.  I'm confident no Sunday stroll through the park WOD so just expect a ball buster (however i'm still crossing my fingers that they are hung over too and schedule a short easy WOD).

They showed up FIRED UP!!!! The gym was sweet, a traditional box with what you need to get the job done.  Plus meeting Brian and Steve I get a good vibe with them right away so this was going to be fun.....again I'm still hoping for a nice easy workout today.

They announce we're doing a hero WOD for the Lakewood fallen police officers.  They then discuss the workout and what each exercise represents with the number of reps:

800m Run
23 Burpee Pull Ups (*Mark)
101 Box Jumps (*Tina)
800m Run
121 Push Ups (*Ronnie)
135 Situps (*Greg)
800m Run
9 Ground to over head (Number of kids left behind)

*Badge Number

You could see this was a very personal WOD so no cracking jokes during this one........however when I see the work to be done I'm thinking JES** FU***** DA**** A** MOT*** FU***** SH**.  I'm hung over with no sleep and now I have to do a Hero WOD, oh well let's suck it up and press on.

The workout was what my body needed, I was sweating all the alcohol from my system.  The run wasn't too rough on me and neither was the burpee pull ups but holy cow did the box jumps kick me in the marbles.  Last thing I wanted to do was that much jumping with a hangover.  After about 20 box jumps I could feel whatever was in my stomach moving around and not agreeing with me, so I took a break but they were on me instantly and didn't allow me to take any rest.  They had me do stepups instead of box jumps, they made sure I was constantly moving during the entire WOD with no rest period (mentally I'm thinking FU** and thank you at the same time).  The entire WOD I was on the verge of puking and would have if I did the 101 box jumps instead of the step ups.  When I finished I collapsed on the concrete couldn't move and was happy I finished and didn't puke.  As I lay there, everyone that finished heads back out to run with Erin for her last couple hundred meters.  Come to find out when PFC train they practice "don't leave anyone behind" and aren't done until everyone is done.  As I laid there alone on the concrete, I thought to myself, that is a good philosophy to have, this gym rocks.  Self High Five.

I will add Erin told me after the WOD that she thought she was going to puke on the box jumps too but her exact words to me were "I didn't want to Pu**y out like you so I kept jumping and if I puked I puked"............I don't know why I thought that was very hot and if she hadn't verped during the workout I would have given her a big kiss :-)

I was happy to survive the workout and hopefully didn't look like too much of a softie.  Finishing the WOD made me feel tons better.   Unfortunately Erin and I had tickets to a show really soon after the WOD so we didn't get to hang out or socialize much because we needed to get to the hotel, get ready and go.  We'll get more done next time we're in town.

This was fun, everyone needs to squeeze in a WOD during their Vegas trip.  I'll be back and chances are I'll be hung over when I show up so please no box jumps :-)
